Dell XPS 15 9510 All In One Laptop Review: (Perfect Power And Beauty)

Finding a decent laptop with an affordable price tag and excellent specs is difficult in overwhelming variants on the market, but Dell has got us our back as always. Say hello to the Dell XPS 15 All In One laptop. Oh, and it comes with a gorgeous OLED display as well. Though Dell XPS 17 9720 is the latest model of the same series with a 17″ UHD InfinityEdge anti-reflective touch display. Also, Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060 GDDR6 graphics coprocessor is making it a gaming laptop too.

But XPS 15 has its own charm with RGB lights, decent design, and powerful Intel Core i7 & i9 (multi-cores latest gen processor). It is also coming with strong hardware in terms of handling any task you want to put on it along with affordability in terms of cost. Dell launched XPS 13 to put the series on track. After release of Dell XPS 15 and XPS 17 with different variants in terms of hardware, quality, and expense XPS 13 is considered to be an old model of the XPS range.

Yep, you heard that right.

Considering that Dell’s range of XPS laptops has been around for what seems like eons, it was high time that Dell graced us with their best invention yet- Dell XPS 15 9510 All In One. To say that this laptop is the closest any manufacturer has come to curating the perfect laptop for professionals and amateurs alike won’t be an exaggeration.

A perfect blend of the line’s standing brilliant design elements coupled with great-sounding speakers, stellar performance, and a keyboard & touchpad that is a pleasure to work on, the Dell XPS 15 11th Gen is the very pinnacle of excellence.

Better yet, the addition of OLED takes the Dell XPS 15 9510 to a whole new level of excellence. Speaking from years of experience, nobody does OLED screens better than Dell.

So take that couple with an 11th generation Core i9 11900H 4.9 GHz and a Nividia GeForce RTX 3050 Ti, and you’ve at your hands a class act.

Of course, it’s just not perfect yet. There is some room for improvement- Battery Life & the Fan. Nevertheless, it is undoubtedly a compelling buy. So if you have been wanting the same Old Dell design and aren’t married to macOS devices, the Dell XPS 15 is what you need.

NOTE: All models from the Dell XPS 15 line slightly differ in cost and specs. We are reviewing the Dell XPS 15 9510 Core i9 today.

Dell XPS 15 9510 ALL-IN-ONE Review

Dell XPS 15 ALL IN ONE Design

Let us dig deep to know the all-in-one solution of Dell XPS 15. We seriously can’t get over how gorgeous the Dell XPS 15 All-in-one is. A splendid combination of CNC Aluminum x Carbon Fiber- Dell XPS 15 is a true match made in tech heaven.

Constructed entirely of a CNC Aluminium with slightly chamfered edges and a gleaming Dell logo in the center of the anodized aluminum lid, this is a laptop you’ll be proud to show off at a boardroom meeting or a coffee shop.

And the carbon-fiber Keyboard deck adds to the overall stylish look of this laptop. The keyboard is also incredibly comfortable by housing a full-size backlit keyboard, a large touchpad, and a circular power button serving as a fingerprint reader.

Unfortunately, the keyboard tends to get grungy over time. But other than that, there’s pretty much nothing to complain about in terms of design. Safe to say that Dell understood the assignment this time around.

Of course, the story isn’t finished yet. The 15-inch screen size might put off some people, just like it did us initially. We get it. Not everybody is up for lugging a hefty 15-inch laptop around, especially if you are on foot all day.

But hear me out. Starting at 4 lbs weight and just 0.66 inches thick, this is easily the lightest 15-inch laptop around. Yes, we understand. It could be more delicate. But considering the hardware, it’s equipped with a battery that lasts reasonably long, and it’s the best portable 15-inch laptop you can buy.

And as far as the webcam goes, no complaints there. It is right where it should be – Right above the InfinityEdge display.

And the good news is that it’s not at the sacrifice of barely-there bezels either. Thanks to Dell’s InfinityEdge design, you are going to love the super-skinny bezels. Not too shabby for the smallest 15.6-inch laptops on the planet, right?

Dell XPS 15 9510 ALL IN ONE Display

Congratulations are on the Dell XPS 15 All-in-one display. And we’ve only three words for it- Bold, Dramatic, and Lively. What’s more, even these don’t do justice to the fantastic XPS 15.6-inch 4K (3840 x 2160) OLED panel. You have to see it to believe it.

We put Dell’s claim of a 100% Adobe RGB color gamut and 500 nits of brightness to test. And the results were shocking. While a bit shy of what Dell claims, the 99 percent sRGB and 488 nits brightness proved what we have been saying about Dell XPS 15 All-in-One all along- Dell’s claims are nearly always right on the money.

I watched The Karate Kid on it, and it brought us to one conclusion: Dell XPS 15 is a hell of a laptop to screen your favorite movie or show.

From the sunlight glowing against Jaden Smith’s mocha skin to the creases around Jackie Chan’s eyes, the attention to detail blew me away.

Bright elements like the sunlight were so fantastic that they made me tear up a little. And paired with those incredible speakers, you are in for a lifetime viewing experience.

Courtesy of the OLED pixels, you can turn it off individually to achieve ‘true’ deep blacks. The result? You get a panel with striking contrasts between color and dark spaces unmatched by LCD screens. You can manage to see both light and dark aspects simultaneously.

That’s the brilliance of the OLED screen. You can also go for the non-OLED 4K version of the XPS 15(Touch). But don’t get me wrong, the non-OLED counterpart isn’t shabby at all. But it just isn’t as vibrant as its OLED (Non-touch) counterpart. You might want to invest in an Active pen to avoid getting the beautiful screen getting all smudgy.

And to make matters even better, the XPS 15 is incredibly durable owing to the Corning Gorilla Glass 4. What’s more, the display bezels are super skinny.

So all you see is the screen. To cut it short, Dell XPS 15 all in one display is the biggest reason why you should go for it- Creative professionals needing a bright, accurate color display or fellow movie buffs who like watching their favorite shows in high resolution.

Battery Life

All good things come at a price. And unfortunately, so does the Dell XPS 15 All-in-one. For all that power and a screen as gorgeous as it is, you’ll have to compromise a little on the battery life, though. As far as the OLED version of the Dell XPS 15 goes, the device will last for eight to nine hours tops.

So basically, the device will last you for an entire workday of continuous web surfing and a bit when you get home as well and are frantically trying to locate the charger. Also, if you’re in a hurry to get through the doors asap with a fully-charged laptop, you’ll be happy to find out that charging from empty to total capacity will take you only around 1.5 to 2 hours.

And if you decide to get the non-OLED model, you are in luck. The battery lasts slightly longer by an hour or so.

Here’s some helpful advice. Remember that white colors consume more power than black colors on OLED screens. So inverting your background to a slightly darker tone will help extend the battery life.

Dell XPS 15 9510 ALL IN ONE Audio

One of our biggest concerns with the older version of the Dell XPS 15 was its weak speakers that could hardly even fill a small room with decent audio. But low & behold, the new version’s bottom-mounted speakers were good enough to fill my tiny room with clear audio of Bob Marley’s ‘Sun Shining.’ And as Dell puts it, the audio is equivalent to epic cinema sounds.

Dell XPS 15 all-in-one has proved that decent speakers in thinnish laptops are possible. That being said, we’ve yet to witness top-mounted speakers in their next iteration. But till then, we’ll have to make do with Dell’s bottom-firing speakers.

You can also help enhance your audio quality by using the preinstalled Waves MaxxAudioPro Software.

Dell XPS 15 ALL IN ONE Performance

Dell hit a home run when it comes to performance. Crammed with a Core i9 11th Gen, 64GB RAM, and an Nvidia GeForce RTX 3050 Ti, the Dell XPS 15 more than delivers on its promise of outstanding performance.

The laptop came out on top of all my real-world tests: Streaming The Harder They Fall on Netflix with 15 additional open Google Chrome tabs, including Youtube streaming.

Remember that Dell XPS 15 isn’t powerful enough for professional video editing. But it sure is powerful for anyone who wishes to do that as a hobby or wants to power through computing tasks without slowing down.

And for all the hardcore gaming folks out there who wonder if Dell XPS 15 is for them, the answer is both Yes and No. Here’s why I say this. Even though RTX 3050 Ti is technically a gaming CPU, the Dell XPS is by no means isn’t a dedicated gaming laptop. The thin and light chassis design is more prone to heating and could cause performance issues while playing.

But the good news is that it is fully capable of playing light games in medium settings, which don’t require exceeding power. So you can get a bit of Indie game action on moderate graphics like it’s nobody’s business. It has enough power to play most modern games. Just remember to use the graphics set to moderate.

Sure, there is room for improvement performance-wise . . But considering the workstation-level performance it provides in such a slim and light design, there isn’t much to complain about. Also, the CPU added strength would have come at the expense of added bulk. And that would’ve weighed you down on your next subway ride to work.

Dell XPS 15 ALL IN ONE Ports

The fact that Dell XPS 15 was gracious enough to offer an SD card reader is enough for us to overlook the lack of connectivity options. With only a thunderbolt, an SD reader, and USB 3.0, Dell could’ve done better with the ports.

But again, considering that we are forever on the hunt for a USB-C SD card adapter, we can get on board with the stingy ports. This is something that photographers will get on board with.

Accessories & Warranty

There aren’t any extras in the box besides the usual paperwork and an AC adapter. Dell could have thrown a cleaning cloth or a USB-to-Ethernet adapter in there.

As for warranty, the standard one year applies. Fortunately, Dell also provides multiple warranty extensions. Considering that Dell is one of the largest IT providers globally, this isn’t a surprise. You can sign up for Dell’s four years of premium support or opt for the two years of extended battery service if needed.
